Initiatives and Achievements
Organic Sugarcane Farming
VMKCT has initiated organic sugarcane farming in collaboration with 35 farmers, covering 60 acres of land. Additionally, plans are underway to expand organic sugarcane cultivation to an additional 50 to 60 acres.
Organic Seed Production
VMKCT operates seven plots dedicated to organic seed production in partnership with Akshara Seed. These plots produce a variety of organic seeds, including capsicum, tomato, cucumber, ridge gourd, sunflower, maize, and okra, involving 11 farmers in seed production activities in 25 Acr land.
Training Programs
VMKCT organizes regular training programs on various aspects of organic farming, including Amrut Jal, Amrut Mitti, Jiva Amrut, and Bija Amrut, aimed at equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to adopt organic agricultural practices effectively.
Awareness Programs
VMKCT conducts awareness programs on organic farming in interior villages, colleges, and institutions, targeting farmers, youth, SHGs, volunteers, students, and villagers. These programs emphasize the importance of sustainable agriculture and the use of natural resources while avoiding chemical fertilizers.
Agroforestry
Vishwa Manav Kalyan Charitable Trust promotes agroforestry as a sustainable land use practice, providing support to farmers interested in integrating trees and shrubs into their farming systems. This initiative not only enhances biodiversity but also improves soil health and provides additional income opportunities for farmers.
Biochar Project
In the collaboration with Sajeevan Life Private Limited and Netrang Organic private Limited VMKCT’s biochar project focuses on improving carbon sequestration in land, thereby contributing to carbon credit enhancement. By supporting farmers in implementing biochar technology, VMKCT aims to mitigate climate change while promoting sustainable agriculture practices.
Technology Improvement
VMKCT collaborates with related NGOs to improve technology adoption in farming, providing farmers with access to innovative tools, techniques, and practices that enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in agriculture.
